B.Sc. Nursing Program

The B.Sc. Nursing program at Nandha College of Nursing is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to excel in the nursing profession. Established as one of the flagship programs, the department is committed to delivering a comprehensive and high-quality education, integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on clinical practice. The program is approved by Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi and Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council, Chennai and is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.

Course Details

The B.Sc. Nursing program is a four-year undergraduate course aimed at preparing students for a wide range of professional nursing roles. The course is structured to provide a balance between academic learning and clinical experience. Key components include:

Eligibility

The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on 31st December of the year in which admission is sought. The maximum age limit for admission shall be 35 years.
Minimum Educational Qualification
a) Candidate with Science who have passed the qualifying 12th Standard examination (10+2) and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together and passed in English individually.
b) Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government having Science subjects and English only.
c) English is a compulsory subject in 10+2 for being eligible for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing).
Colour blind candidates are eligible provided that colour corrective contact lens and spectacles are worn by such candidates.
Candidate shall be medically fit.
Married candidates are also eligible for admission.
Students shall be admitted once in a year.

The curriculum is designed to integrate core nursing subjects with other relevant areas of study such as Applied Anatomy, Applied Physiology, Applied Nutrition and dietetics, Applied Biochemistry, Applied Microbiology and Infection Control including Safety, Applied Psychology, Applied Sociology, Health/Nursing Informatics and Technology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Professionalism and Professional values and ethics Introduction to Forensic Nursing and Indian Laws. The course is divided into eight semesters, with a focus on both theoretical learning and practical training. Major subjects include:
